Hello!
Welcome to our travel blog. The purpose of the blog is to share our travels with friends, family and fellow travelers. This is not your typical slick blog trying to sell products or to direct you to other sites, this is just us sharing our love of travel and some tips we’ve learned along the way. We are building the site and learning as we go so please bear with us (translates to we have no idea what we are doing).
If you know me, the retired Firefighter/EMS Lieutenant part of this duo, you know there are two things in this world that I love to talk about – our many vacations to 4 star resorts and enjoying good food. And most importantly, how we do so without breaking the bank.
While I’m always looking for the best bargain out there (some would call me cheap but I prefer frugal as it sounds better), the wife has taught me that there is more to travel that saving a buck or two. Frugal Firefighter Travels will balance the two, my love for saving a buck, with the wife’s love of beautiful resorts and romantic meals.
When we were both working full-time, traveling quickly became our way to disengage from our stressful careers. It was a time to enjoy amazing food, explore new areas, take a hike or two, and spend uninterrupted time together. Our first exposure to the finer side of travel was back in the 80’s after winning an all expense paid trip to DisneyWorld. Prior to that trip, most of our travel consisted of road trips in low-budget hotels and family camping trips, which suited us at that time. Little did I know or expect that years later, we would be traveling to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, staying at four-star resorts and planning our next trip before we got home.
I hope you find a helpful tip or two as you follow us. We’d love your feedback and suggestions for topics to cover. Please send us your thoughts and ideas through the comments section (just don’t try to sell us anything).
Travel well,
Randy
